“If all of us would reach out and touch someone who is less active and who is not a member of the Church between now and Christmas and help those, we serve to do the same, I can’t think of a better gift we could give to the Savior. Could We take this special assignment?” ~ President M. Russell Ballard August 2021
In August 2021 President M. Russell Ballard, Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles extended an invitation to every leader and member in Africa West Area through the Area Presidency to “reach out and touch someone who is less active and who is not a member of the Church between now and Christmas” as our Christmas gift to Jesus Christ.
To appropriately respond to President Ballard’s invitation, identify someone (either a less active member or a non-member) around you who you will reach out to and touch his/her life in simple and natural ways between now and December 24th, 2021.
Here are examples of how to reach out and touch someone in simple yet natural ways as invited by Pres. Ballard.
1. Gift a copy of the book of Mormon to a non-member family or friend and invite him/her to read about Jesus Christ in the book.
2. Do something kind for a colleague in your workplace to help him /her feel the power of God’s love.
3. Invite a less active member to come share his/her time and talent in a service for the community.
Perhaps, President Ballard’s invitation to us is something we can do, not just by Christmas, but all the time. What a special gift that would be.” If we become a people who always reach out and touch lives.
