Adenta Stake Family Home Evening

An inspiring evening with Elder and Sister Russell M. Nelson was held on Monday, March 20th for the Young Single Adult’s Family Home Evening.  Over 80 people attended the rebroadcast of the Worldwide YA Devotional held in January by President Russell M. Nelson and his wife, Wendy W. Nelson, at the Adenta Stake Center with Stake President Kabason and his wife.  Sister Nelson began the broadcast by sharing her thoughts about marriage and that intimacy is ordained of God.  She said that the key to joy is to become more pure in our relationships and that the Holy Ghost needs to be involved.  Then Pres. Nelson shared that the young adults listening are the future leaders of the Lord’s Church.  He shared many highlights from the lives of the prophets that portrayed how they loved God.  He also encouraged all to study everything Jesus said and did, and promised that their love would grow for Him. By doing this they would be able to walk away from the entanglements of the world. He said, “Jesus is your advocate.  He will stand for you.”

After watching the broadcast, President Kabason led a discussion and asked everyone what they had learned. One member in attendance said that it was important to be a peacemaker at home and at work.  Several expressed that the world says that true love is found in fictional books and movies, but Sister Nelson said that true love is both a physical and spiritual relationship.  Others were encouraged to continue to live the commandments and to build a spiritual life.  The discussion concluded with further counsel and encouragement from President Kabason.  Afterward, we played several fun games including one where the object was to slide a cookie from your forehead into your mouth without using your hands.  It was very entertaining to watch and everyone enjoyed refreshments and socializing.
