First Presidency Announces 2024 Area Leadership Assignments. Changes are effective August 1
On 17-19 February 2024, Elder David A. Bednar, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Elder Patrick Kearon, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and Elder Carlos A. Godoy, a member of the Presidency of the Seventy, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, visited the country of Nigeria. The Church leaders met with area leaders, missionaries, young single adults, members of the Church, and inter-faith leaders during their three-day visit.
On 17 February 2024, Young Single Adults (YSA) from throughout Nigeria gathered at Lagos Nigeria Ikeja Stake Center for a special devotional with Elder David A. Bednar, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Elder Patrick Kearon, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and Elder Carlos A. Godoy, a member of the Presidency of the Seventy.

On 1 November 2023, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced that an additional five missions would be opened in the Africa West Area of the Church, beginning on 1 July 2024. This is in addition to the three missions opened in 2023 in West Africa.
