AREA PRESIDENCY

Elder Hugo E. Martinez, President 

Elder Hugo E. Martinez was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 5, 2014. At the time of his call, he had been serving as a member of the Fourth Quorum of the Seventy in the Caribbean Area. He recently served as a member of the Caribbean Area Presidency and is now serving as the President in Africa West Area Presidency. 

Elder Martinez completed his premedical studies at the University of Mississippi from 1974 to 1977. In 1981 he received a medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. In 1984 he completed a family practice residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Elder Martinez worked for 20 years as a physician and medical consultant before retiring in 2004.

Elder Martinez has served in numerous Church callings, including bishop, Elders quorum president, district president, counselor in a mission presidency, president of the Guatemala City Central Mission (2005–2008), and Area Seventy.

Hugo Edgardo Martinez was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, on January 10, 1957. He married Nuria Merced Alvarez Pagan in December 1980. They are the parents of five children.

 

Elder Larry S. Kacher, First Counselor

Elder Larry S. Kacher was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 5, 2014. At the time of his call, he had been serving as a member of the Third Quorum of the Seventy in the Middle East/Africa North Area. He recently served as a member of the Europe East Area Presidency and is currently serving as the first counselor in the  Africa West Area Presidency.

Elder Kacher received a bachelor of science degree in psychology from Brigham Young University in 1976. In 1978 he received a master’s degree in organizational behavior, also from Brigham Young University. In 1978 he began his career with Honeywell and later became their European director of human resource development, based in Brussels, Belgium. During the majority of his career, Elder Kacher consulted with large international companies in the areas of strategy, organization design, and leadership development. Prior to his call to the Seventy, he was working and consulting for the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, based in the United Arab Emirates.

Elder Kacher has served in numerous Church callings, including full-time missionary in French Polynesia, branch president in Belgium, bishop, counselor in a stake presidency, president of the Geneva Switzerland Mission (2000–2003), and Area Seventy.

Larry Stephen Kacher was born in Mankato, Minnesota, on February 12, 1952. He married Pauline Miller in October 1976. They are the parents of six children.

Jörg Klebingat

Elder Jörg Klebingat, second counselor 

Elder Jörg Klebingat was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 5, 2014. At the time of his call, he was serving as president of the Ukraine Kyiv Mission. He served as a member of the Europe East Area Presidency from August 2014 to August 2016. He is currently serving at Church headquarters as an assistant executive director in the Temple Department and as an area assistant in the North America Northwest and North America West Areas and currently serving as a second counselor in the Africa West Area Presidency . 

 

Elder Klebingat received both a bachelor of arts degree in Russian and a master’s degree in organizational behavior from Brigham Young University, and he began his career working for several consulting companies. Prior to his call as mission president, he worked for many years with the Church in positions such as Kyiv, Ukraine service center manager, Europe East Area director for temporal affairs, and Europe Area distribution supervisor.

Since joining the Church in 1985, Elder Klebingat has served in numerous Church callings, including a full-time missionary in the Colorado Denver Mission, Young Men president, elders quorum president, high councilor, bishop, and mission president.

 

Jörg Klebingat was born in Zweibrücken, Germany, on December 19, 1967. He married Julia Poltorak in August 1991. They are the parents of three children.


AREA SEVENTY

General Authority Seventies have the authority to serve anywhere in the world. Other Seventies are called Area Seventies, and their authority is generally limited to the area where they serve.
