As a Junior High School teacher with eight children under my care. Each of these children takes not less than GHC5.00 as a pocket money to the school every day. None of the weekdays was for rest in my family including Sundays. My wife needs to work hard with the children in other to make ends meet by preparing and selling ice kenkey, water, cocoa drink or anything that I bring from my farm produce that needs to be sold aside my teaching job.
After my family baptism, the missionaries began to teach us the importance of Sabbath observance, we found it difficult and inconvenient to observe the Sabbath as taught by the missionaries due to the high financial challenge we faced. The missionaries used scriptures such as Mosiah 13:16-19 and Exodus.20:8-11 to back their teachings for our understanding. Reading such scriptures overturned events of the family. We prayed for the Lord to help us keep his day holy by providing our needs from Monday to Saturday.
When I was asked to offer the closing prayer in our family home evening on( Monday), I declared that henceforth there should be no more sales on Sundays no child was to go out to sell. My children jubilated with the hope that Heavenly Father will provide. The Lord indeed answered my prayers. Each of these children has now completed their education and four of them are now returned missionaries and had, had their university education. This is how the Savior will bless His people who obey and keep the Sabbath day Holy.
