Volunteers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints provided needed service to their local communities in the Yamoransa area on August 19, during the annual All Africa Service Day.

Hundreds of Latter-day Saints from local congregations surrounding Yamoransa joined in the Saturday activity. Clean-up and beautification efforts were performed at hospitals, clinics, health centers and other sites around the area.

Paa Kwesi, a resident of Green Hill noticed several volunteers working on a clean-up project. When he learned they were Latter-day Saints, he remarked, “I have seen missionaries from your Church with white shirts and ties. You people work as well as you dress!”

Greenhill-Brofoyedur Assemblyman, Honorable Cook Arhin said, “Thanks to you for your good works. It’s my first encounter with Latter-day Saints. My first moment of seeing service with such great love”.

One of the clean-up sites was the Yamoransa Community Cemetery, where members weeded and restored land affected by degradation. Dirt was hauled in to fill gullies and depressions.

Pius Arthur, Former assemblyman of Omando, commended the church for the good word done. Mr. Arthur said, 'I am impressed to see Later-day Saints doing this great job. I am therefore happy and of the view that this community service be done regularly to keep the town clean'.

Yamoransa Ghana Stake President Frank Bobby Davies commended the many people who volunteered for the projects. “We thank you for your service and your dedication. Many lives will be blessed because of our work today.”
