Registration for RootsTech 2025 is now open. The premier global family discovery event is March 6–8, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and online at RootsTech.org.

RootsTech is hosted annually by FamilySearch, an international genealogy organization and popular website sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

RootsTech 2025 will offer a mix of in-person and virtual classes, interactive activities, and entertainment designed to inspire and educate family history enthusiasts of all levels. Whether you are a seasoned genealogist or just beginning your family discovery journey, RootsTech 2025 offers something for everyone. Select content will be available in multiple languages.

For Latter-day Saints, RootsTech offers fun ways to help your family grow their love for Jesus Christ and the temple through inspiring messages from Church leaders. You can also learn helpful tips for using tools like Ordinance Ready found in the Member Tools and Family Tree apps to quickly and easily find ancestral names for the temple.

RootsTech provides an opportunity to connect with old friends, make new ones and expand your social network. RootsTech 2024 attendees made more than 350 million new family connections.

Keynote Speakers

Keynote speakers include author Ndaba Mandela (grandson of Nelson Mandela), prominent artist Dana Tanamachi, and Olympic and Paralympic Gold-medalists Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall, who will take the main stage to share their unique and inspiring personal, family and historical experiences.

Family Discovery Day

Saturday, March 8, is Family Discovery Day, a free event at the Salt Palace

Convention Center featuring live music and family history activities for all ages.

Elder and Sister Andersen will speak at 1:30 p.m. Mountain Standard Time (MST) about the power of discovery and the blessings of temple and family history work. Following the Andersens, the Piano Guys will perform on the main stage. The Andersens’ address and the music performance will be streamed live and available later for on-demand viewing on ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

Attendees at the Salt Palace can enjoy games, art projects and fun activities for the kids. Dozens of free family history classes are available all day on Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., including special sessions for youth taught by John and Kim Bytheway, Scott and Angelle Andersen, and a special session with T.C. Christensen.
