The joy of YSA Summit

LDSSA

The annual Latter-day Saints Students Association Summit was held on the 17th and 18th of February 2017 at the temple square. Unlike always, which saw a three day and two-night program, it was a night and two-day activity. We had five schools participating in this year’s summit namely University of Ghana (UG), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), University of Cape Coast (UCC), University of Development Studies (UDS) and University of Education (UEW). Students from KNUST were the first to have arrived as early as 7 a.m., followed by the UCC, UEW, and UG.  There was a brief opening exercise which paved way for students to participate in the early morning sessions of the day. Lunch was ready for the third session of the day. We had dinner the Friday evening to end day one of the summit. The following Saturday was filled with many activities which included aerobics in the early hours of the day. Following this was a devotional with elder Vinson, the Africa West Area President which took place at the Christiansborg Stake meeting house. After the two hours of inspiring messages from the Elder Vinson, we had our last session of the temple worship from 10:30 to 1:30 pm. This was quickly followed by a closing ceremony which drew the 2017 LDSSA Summit to a close.

This year’s summit was attended by students all over the country, specifically, we had 40 students from KNUST, 30 from UCC, 25 from UG, 19 from UEW and the lowest were from UDS, 8 - that was their maiden participation in the LDSSA temple trip. There were 122 students in attendance.
