YSAs Holds Family Home Evening on One-Take –One Initiative

'implementing the One-take-One directive spoken of by our West Africa Area Presidency'.

one take one

The Achimota 1st Ward YSA met for Home Evening this past Monday evening – February 4th, 2019. The evening was a joyful evening of fellowshipping.  Getting to know each other, developing relationships and friendships and laying the foundation of great work. The work of bringing fellow YSA members back to activity by implementing the One-take-One directive spoken of by our West Africa Area Presidency.

The evening took placed in the cultural hall with an opening hymn accompanied by two talented YSA trumpeters, followed by a prayer and spiritual thought given by the wards new YSA representative, Justin Smith.

Elder Peter and Sister Jolyn Miller, Area YSA missionaries, introduced a variety of “getting to know you” games and activities. The YSA enjoyed a very animated game of “Do you love your neighbor”. We dashed from seat to seat, laughing and learning about each other. We then enjoyed some cordial competition using a variety of simple props: water bottles, marbles, balloons, cups, and elastics bands to create some challenging and enthusiastic relays. The evening concluded with a prayer and simple refreshment.

As taught by modern prophets, “… home evening is a time for group activity, for organizing, for the expressions of love, for the bearing of testimony, for learning gospel principles, for… fun and recreation … unity and solidarity.” (Joseph Fielding Smith, Harold B. Lee, and N. Eldon Tanner, Family Home Evenings, 1970–71 (1970))

Thank you to all those who join us. We look forward to many more YSA Home Evenings.
